In the recent issue of Electronic Products,
New Scale's David Henderson compares piezo motors to
other motor technologies for phone cameras,
including miniature electromagnetic motors, voice
coil actuators, liquid lenses, and piezo bimorph
actuators.
He then compares two types of piezo motors that have
been commercialized for phone camera applications:
the direct-drive linear SQUIGGLE motor and a
pusher-type motor.
Learn more about these motor types and their
applications in mobile imaging. The pros and cons of
different motor technologies are applicable to a
wide range of other consumer electronic products, as
well.
