SQUIGGLE Micro Motors for OEMs
The World's Smallest Linear Motors
SQL Series SQUIGGLE Micro Motors for Mobile and Ultra-Miniature
OEM Products
The tiny SQL Series SQUIGGLE micro motor offers greater power efficiency,
higher reliability, and ten times better precision than
electromagnetic motors. This linear motor is less than half the size of other piezo
motors or micro motors. It consists of seven parts in a simple,
elegant design that can be produced at low unit cost in high
volumes. This patented ultrasonic motor withstands high shock and offers millimeters of stroke.
With the SQUIGGLE motor design engineers can add motion features
into products where they could not have been imagined before.
Features include:
- NEW
ASIC driver in a 4 x 4 mm
QFN package
- Scalability to millimeters in size
- Simple construction (7 parts) facilitates high-volume,
low-cost manufacturing
- Direct linear movement (no gears or cams) reduces part count
in OEM product
- Highly efficient piezoelectric actuators use power only when
moving
- Robust construction withstands high shock loads
- Sub-micrometer precision
- Silent, ultrasonic operation
- Wide operating temperature range
- Customizable for OEMs
- Vacuum and cryogenic versions available
Developer's Kits for OEMs
SQL micro motor developer's kits
include one SQUIGGLE motor,
a TRACKER position sensor (closed-loop kits only), controller board, cables, and New Scale Pathway™
Software: a flexible and sophisticated software platform that
enables rapid evaluation of New Scale motors, sensors and motion
systems. Point-and-click user interface and an intuitive
scripting environment speed product design, system integration and
performance validation.
Once you’ve determined that SQUIGGLE motors are right for your application we can
provide motors in quantity, create customized micro motors, or design application-specific modules
(including drive electronics and
miniature position sensors) to
fit your OEM requirements. See our
custom engineering page for more information.
Motor Controllers
SQL-1.8 micro motors take a square wave drive signal.
- NEW ASIC driver! The
NSD-1202 is a dedicated piezo motor driver ASIC capable of
driving two SQL Series SQUIGGLE motors from a single 2.8 to 5.5
VDC supply. Two SQL-1.8 motors can be controlled
independently using a standard I²C interface.
The MC-33DB driver includes
this NSD-1202 ASIC along with all required passives and
convenient connectors.
- The MC-3300 is a full motion control system for with
intuitive PC user interface for easy motor evaluation. It
features a control processor and accepts position sensor
input for both open-loop and closed-loop operation. It includes
New Scale Pathway Software with point-and-click user interface,
scripting environment and
ActiveX command library.
SQL-3.4 micro motors take a sine wave drive signal.
New Scale MC-1100 (drive card) and
SQ-2300 (benchtop) controllers
use a resonant amplifier to produce the required drive signals. Both include
New Scale Pathway Software with point-and-click user interface,
scripting environment and
ActiveX command library.
