Motor Controllers for Piezoelectric SQUIGGLE Motors

New Scale's motor controllers generate the ultrasonic signals to drive the piezoelectric elements in a SQUIGGLE micro motor. Most of our motor controllers accept input from position sensors for closed-loop motion control.

Our credit-card sized and smaller boards are suitable for integration into OEM instruments, or as reference designs for OEM system integration. We also offer bench top models.

 

All controllers include PC user interface and demo software. They use our ActiveX command library that you can also call from third-party software such as Visual Basic. Or, build custom scripts using the intuitive scripting interface. Use these scripts and ActiveX commands later in your embedded system design.


MC-3000 OEM Motor Controller

  • for SQL-1.5 and SQL-1.8 motors

 

Use the MC-3000 motor controller to quickly evaluate the smallest SQL Series SQUIGGLE motors. Then use it as a reference design for integrating motor control electronics into your OEM system board or ASIC.

 

Each MC-3000 controller operates up to two SQUIGGLE motors in open-loop or closed-loop configuration.

MC-1000 OEM Motor Controller

  • for SQL-3.4 and SQ-100 Series motors

 

The MC-1000 controller is a credit-card sized drive card for the larger SQL Series and all SQ-100 Series SQUIGGLE motors. It is designed for easy integration into OEM systems such as medical, laser, optical, and laboratory instruments.

Each MC-1000 motor controller drives one motor, in open-loop or closed-loop configuration. The controller is configured to optimize performance for each motor model. Multiple drive cards can be controlled from a single computer screen using the software provided.

 

For closed-loop operation using an analog position sensor, choose a controller with sufficient A/D converter resolution for your position sensor and motor. When using a digital (incremental) encoder as a position sensor, position resolution is determined by the encoder. SQ-2300 Bench Top Motor Controller

  • for SQL-3.4 and SQ-100 Series motors

 

When used with a bench top controller, each SQUIGGLE motor has a “smart” connector that stores its optimum drive parameters including frequency, phase and voltage. These parameters are downloaded to the SQ-2300 drive electronics when the motor is connected.

Single- and multi-axis bench top controllers are available. The six-axis multiplexed controller allows you to connect up to six SQUIGGLE motors to a single driver for multi-axis positioning.

The SQ-2300 bench top controller operates on DC power from an AC wall plug transformer (provided).
