With their tiny size and high precision, New Scale's actuators
and micro-mechatronic modules are ideal for defense and security
applications from biometrics to munitions control. We offer
production-ready M3 modules as well as custom solutions for defense
and security applications including:
- Biometrics, eye tracking and IR cameras. From
identification (iris scanning) to instrument control (eye
tracking), focus modules enable miniature camera systems with

- Targeting systems. Compact linear motion modules
provide precision control for extremely accurate laser

- Active tuning. Create smaller, high-power RF and
microwave tuning circuits for field-tunable base station
transmitters and receivers, delivering extended communication

- Active stabilization. Piezo actuators and closed-loop
modules enable gun sight and laser stabilization systems that
are small, light weight, low power... and extremely precise.
- UAV / UAG controls. Compact motion modules provide
precision flight control in unmanned aerial and ground vehicles.
- Missile and munitions controls. Custom rotary
actuators offer high torque, high speed and high precision in
extremely thin packages. The non-magnetic actuators will not
interfere with magnetometer navigation systems, and are designed
for high-G launch forces.

micro motors for fiber optic positioning in a wide-field
multi-object spectrometer, as well as custom UHV and cryogenic

Solutions
M3 micro-mechatronics modules are complete closed-loop
motion systems with high precision and tiny footprints. Each module
incorporates a piezoelectric motor, position sensor and drive
electronics - no external controller is needed. You supply 3V power
and high-level commands from your system processor using a standard
I2C or SPI serial interface.
Commercial off-the-shelf modules include the
M3-F focus module and the M3-L linear motion
module.
