Custom auto focus module specifications worksheet

 

New Scale's auto focus module is a design platform that we can easily customize to fit your specific camera PCB and lens requirements. From this basic design platform we can accommodate your specifications for board mounting interface, lens travel (macro to infinity), lens thread, motion control and more. Each custom auto focus module system includes:

  • A threaded lens mount to your specifications (no lens included)
  • An SQL-RV-1.8 SQUIGGLE Motor
  • A NSD SQUIGGLE Motor Driver ASIC
  • A Tracker NSE-5310 position sensor (0.5 micron positioning and absolute limit stops)
  • A PCB mounting base to your specifications

 

We offer two different configurations for the electrical interface:

  • A basic module with drive electronics on a separate PCB. The auto focus module will have a flex circuit connector for the motor and one for the position sensor (Figure 1 below).
     
  • An integrated micro-mechatronic module with drive electronics integrated into the module. The module will have two wires for the power connection and two wires for the I2C interface (Figure 2 below).

 

Cost and delivery will depend on the level of customization required. Please fill out this form as completely as possible and we will provide a proposal.

 

We can generally provide Proof of Concept prototypes of a basic module in 8 weeks after acceptance of the proposal and receipt of your order.

Module configuration: electrical interface

Basic Module (Figure 1)
Drive electronics on a separate PCB. The auto focus module has flex circuit connectors for motor and position sensor. Choose one:
MC-3300-RV controller board with NSD motor driver ASIC and connectors for the FPCs. The MC-3300-RV provides closed-loop control.
NSD driver ASIC only. You will implement closed-loop control on your own PCB or microprocessor.

Integrated Micro-Mechatronic Module (Figure 2)
Drive electronics integrated into the auto focus module. Wires for power and I2C interface. You will use your microprocessor to provide the closed-loop control.
